Despite being born on the East Coast, Alaska is deep in my blood. From trapping and fishing, to homesteading and dogsledding, Alaska keeps sending me invitations to reconnect and thrive in my Athabaskan heritage. My mother, a librarian at heart and occasionally by trade, homeschooled me through my school years and instilled in me a love of all things living. I followed that passion into college, obtaining a Bachelor's in Biology with a minor in Communication. After applying that knowledge in various occupations, including optical services and the veterinary industry, the draw to create a self-sustaining lifestyle takes hold. In recent years, domestic hobbies and pursuits have increased my appreciation for how the land supports and sustains us.
